153 days

since Kona’s last seizure. I think that is some type of record. However, it appears that the medicine he is on is causing some serious back-end weakness. He does fine in the house, but if he goes out side he can barely walk without falling. If the surface isn’t flat he has a hard time (and living around hear there is no such thing as a flat surface). He was at the vet on Monday, they x-rayed his back end and said there is no degenerative reason for the weakness. I’m awaiting a call back from the vet to see what his blood levels are of phenobarb and potasium bromide. We’ve cut down his potasium bromide a bit the last two days. The good thing about that drug is that it has a long half life so we have a bit more freedom in timing and dosage. I’m so glad he is stable but its heartbreaking to seem him try to walk and then fall. His spirit is still willing—he wants his walks and running through the fields. Hopefully we can get to the happy medium with his seizures and the meds side effects.
