5/31/10
I was wondering why the thumb on my right hand was so sore until I realized that playing bass uses different muscles in the hand.
5/30/10
Was able to let my creative side loose today while photographing mrrad’s band for their website.
Photos taken
I met up with the band today after rehearsal and took some photos of them to use on the website. Some came out pretty well for an amateur photographer. Now to get crackin’ on building the website since the band is gaining some forward momentum after the first keyboard player died, the second keyboard player didn’t work out, and the bass player left the band to take on another project.

Sex in the City 2 followed by cheese and chocolate fondue at the Melting Pot is a great girls day out.
Sex in the City 2
Its like hanging out with old friends.
Mother and Child
Really good movie with a lot of big name actors. Didn’t get a lot of press but was really good.
153 days
since Kona’s last seizure. I think that is some type of record. However, it appears that the medicine he is on is causing some serious back-end weakness. He does fine in the house, but if he goes out side he can barely walk without falling. If the surface isn’t flat he has a hard time (and living around hear there is no such thing as a flat surface). He was at the vet on Monday, they x-rayed his back end and said there is no degenerative reason for the weakness. I’m awaiting a call back from the vet to see what his blood levels are of phenobarb and potasium bromide. We’ve cut down his potasium bromide a bit the last two days. The good thing about that drug is that it has a long half life so we have a bit more freedom in timing and dosage. I’m so glad he is stable but its heartbreaking to seem him try to walk and then fall. His spirit is still willing—he wants his walks and running through the fields. Hopefully we can get to the happy medium with his seizures and the meds side effects.

The journey begins with learning a new musical instrument and wrestling my insecure “I’m not good enough” demons.
Check it out
So I purchased a base guitar, lovely isn’t it. Now to find a teacher. And the insecurity has started to raise its ugly head. The “I can’t learn”. “I don’t have any talent” “I’ll be bad at it” Wow, 40 years later and it still haunts me. All I can do is move forward and be fearless.
5/24/10
Kona’s x-rays and blood work indicated he does not have a degenerative musculoskeletal problem and his liver is doing great but we still don’t know why he is having back-end weakness.

Vacation starts now that my bff has arrived and we can hang.
This week
I am going to purchase my starter bass guitar. Even though we have one friend willing to lend me his bass and another willing to find an amp, trying to get that to happen will take a lot of effort. Since I’m on vacation this week and my bff is here, who plays bass, we’re just going to go shopping for one. I’m excited. Now I have to find a teacher to help me learn.

FTF Weekend of May 21st
I’m on vacation this week! My bff is coming out tomorrow to stay for a week and we’re going to hang out and have girl time. I really really need some time off to rest and relax. This was another 60+ hour week of intensive meetings and I’m burned out. I’ve also been given the opportunity to lead a portion of the practice at our firm and while I’m really excited about it, I’m almost too tired to care. So for the weekend:
meet with L.
massage
change sheets in guest rooms
unpack suitcase
grocery store
car wash
pick up bff at airport
take vitamins
eat fruit
hug mr rad
finish paying this months bills
finish white paper on consulting

Being given the opportunity to lead a portion of the practice and make a name for myself in the firm is what I had hoped for.

The team really enjoyed dinner at the Melting Pot and they really deserved a fun time after the intensive two days we all had.

It is incredibly sad to realize how battered and bruised my self image is when I cannot say out loud to those I should what I beleive I am capable of and how I wish to be viewed.
5/12/10
It was one of the best national practice committee meetings that we have ever had since we spent no time on operations and all the time on ideas and dialogue.
5/11/10
It is amazing how much work one can accomplish on an airplane with no interruptions and focused attention.

A house guest arrives and I work all day-what is wrong with this picture.
FTF Weekend of May 1st
We have a house guest arriving today for a week’s stay. I need to clean up a few things before his arrival. And I have a lot of work to do. Even though I was at home and in the office for 3 days this week, I did not accomplish those things I needed to because I was constantly putting out client fires. Those things must now be completed over this weekend. Oh, and did I mention a dentist visit yesterday which has left my mouth sore
